Priced at around Php 17,000, Nokia 701 is one of the first handsets to come with Symbian Belle - the latest update to the Symbian Operating System - featuring enhancements like a drop-down status bar, more home screens, widgets in various sizes, new action bar, NFC support and an even more refined user interface.
I've played with the phone and tinkered with its Symbian Belle OS a bit and off hand, I think it's a great handset. The design is attractive (similar to fashionista phone, Nokia C7), the build is durable and the UI is easy to navigate. I particularly love Symbian Belle's drop-down status bar where the user can easy switch Wifi, Bluetooth and Mobile Data on and off with one touch. Nokia 701 is also a capable multimedia device. It comes with an 8 MegaPixel camera, an HD video recorder, FM radio, TV out and NFC support for wirelessly playing music using Nokia Play 360 speaker. As for the screen, Nokia 701 flaunts a 3.5-inch Nokia Clear Black display and scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass touchscreen. Here's my quick hands-on video of the phone:

Expect Android 2.3 Gingerbread - the follow-up to Android 2.2 Froyo - to bring a number of software improvements to the already amazing First Dual-Core Smartphone in the World, LG Optimus 2X! Among the most useful enhancements include the following: Improved Power Management, Which Can Translate to Increased Uptime Android 2.3 takes a more active role in managing specs-intensive apps or those that use a lot of the CPU or those that keep the smartphone awake for an extended time. As a result, Gingerbread ensures maximum battery life and best performance. Smoother Gameplay By identifying possible performance and memory issues before they happen and solving them in the instance that they do, Android 2.3 minimizes lags or pauses in applications and games. Also, improvements implemented across the Gingerbread platform help improve gaming experience by ensuring increased touch gesture responsiveness and smoother animation. Enhanced Application Management Android 2.3 makes it easier to check and manage application activity on your smartphone. Gingerbread's Application Manager displays a list of all active apps as well as the memory and storage being used by each other them. Thanks to this new feature, users can now know just how specs-intensive a particular app is and even close it instantly should the need arise. How to get Android 2.3 Gingerbread on your LG Optimus 2X? Well, you can get the firmware update by connecting your smartphone to a PC and running LG PC Suite. Once the update becomes available for download, LG PC Suite will send you a notification to install Gingerbread on your phone. I'll inform you as soon as I get an upgrade note for my LG Optimus 2X. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

A new version of the Nokia Store for Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia X7, Nokia C7 and C6-01 running Symbian Anna is now up for download!
What's hot about this update is that it dons the look of Symbian Belle, replete with the new action bar and the new notifications tab - albeit not yet 'drop-down'. So if you want to get a feel of Symbian Belle user interface before Nokia releases it for all Symbian^3 phones later this month (that's the rumor), then go ahead and launch your current version of Nokia Store and wait for the upgrade notification to pop up. Click download to get the new Nokia Store files then install. Oh, and after you do that, you might want to download TechPinas for Nokia app too. Thanks! |
