I've just received word from TP's valued insider (who refuses to be named) that Smart Communications is now in the process of preparing for Apple iPhone 4S' official launch in the Philippines by year-end 2011 or around this coming Yuletide!
According to him, Smart Communications will be the new official carrier of Apple iPhone in the Philippines following the lapse of Globe Telecom's exclusivity deal with Apple. He followed up that iPhone 4S will come as one of the free bundled flagship handsets with Smart Postpaid's top-tier plans. Note that TP has yet to confirm this insider info; As of writing, neither Smart nor Globe has released any official statement claiming to be the official and exclusive carrier of Apple iPhone 4S in the Philippines. Stay tuned for updates. I have a feeling they will come in rapid succession soon. |

This is even cheaper than India's $99 Aakash Android tablet. And it's official.
Sure, CherryPad features a borderline-passe resistive touchscreen instead of a more touch-friendly capacitive display. But with a price tag as low as Php 3,899 or barely $90, this tablet will be very hard to ignore - for sure.
Imagine: For less than 4,000 bucks, you get a 7-inch Wifi-enabled Froyo tablet with VGA camera and 800 MHz chip that can double as an e-book reader or as a note-taking device.
Here are the full specs courtesy of Cherry Mobile PR:
This tablet should be available at all Cherry Mobile Concept Stores across the archipelago by the end of November.

I think Cherry Mobile has just set a new record for the cheapest price tag an Android smartphone has ever donned!
Priced at only Php 3,699, Cherry Mobile Candy (along with its full QWERTY candybar sister, Cherry Mobile Candy Chat) is currently the most afforable full-blown Android smartphone in the Philippines, if not the whole world.
Flaunting a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen, a 416 MHz processor that runs Android 2.2 Froyo OS, FM Radio, 1.3 MegaPixel camera and dual SIM dual standby capability, Cherry Mobile Candy supports Wifi, EDGE and Bluetooth connectivity, making it possible to access your social networking accounts anywhere you are.

TP Thoughts:
Had this phone come with a capacitive touchscreen, it would have totally given entry-level Android phones from bigger companies a run for the money.
Truth be told, I think resistive touchscreens are very close to obsolescence.
That said, I'm still inclined to believe that Cherry Mobile Candy will have its fans, especially those in the C D segment or the stingy ones who just to try out Android.

I really don't think Android can't get any cheaper than this!
Following the release of Orbit, the first 3G Dual SIM Android in the country, Cherry Mobile further strengthens its dual SIM Android smartphone collection with Candy Chat. Featuring Wi-Fi and Android 2.2 Froyo technology, Cherry Mobile Candy Chat is a full QWERTY thumb-type handset with a resistive touchscreen, which supports microSD card up to 16GB and comes in hip and vibrant colors -- a sweet treat for only Php 3,699.

Cherry Mobile Candy Chat should be out at all Cherry Mobile stores nationwide by month's end.

With a 1.4GHz dual core processor, HSPA+ internet speeds, 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel camera, Full HD 1080p and especially the S Pen, Samsung Galaxy Note shouldn't have any problems living up to its title as the very first tablet-smartphone hybrid in the market!
According to TP's very reliable source, Samsung Galaxy Note will retail for exactly Php 34,990 in the Philippines and will be available for purchase nationwide starting November 19, 2011.
I also heard that Samsung will be holding a special early registration discount promo so it's best to stay tuned for updates.
In the meantime, feel free to learn more about Samsung Galaxy Note via the link.

This is Samsung Galaxy Y Smart Netphone --
Click on the image for more information about this phone straight from Smart Communications.

It has 100% similar technical specifications (even supports all Samsung Widgets and all apps from Android Market) and the same price - at only Php 5,990 - as the regular Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 retail version that you can get in malls.
So why buy the Smart Netphone version?
Well, for me, buy it because of 2 reasons:
1. Savings! Samsung Galaxy Y Smart Netphone Edition comes with affordable SmartNet services that give you the most out of your hard-earned money. With the Netphone version, Php 20 is all you need to have unlimited Facebook, Twitter, and Netphone Messenger access the whole day! You even get 10MB of mobile data and 50 text messages to other Smart subscribers! Ain't that super?! And get this, via a special promo, Smart Communications is offering all of the above-mentioned services for free until December 31, 2011! So that means even more savings! Great.
Anyway, here are the super-affordable regular rates sans the current promo:
Packages and Bundles (Subscriber must maintain P1 balance) | Rate | Social Stream | Netphone Messenger | Browsing/ Access | Voice | Text |
Daily Netphone Power Pack(all in) | P40 | unli | unli | 30 MB | 10 min on net | 150 on net |
Monthly Netphone Power Pack (all in) | P999 | unli | unli | 1 GB | 200 min on net | 3500 on net |
Daily Netphone Connect Pack | P30 | unli | unli | 20 MB | 5 min on net | 100 on net |
Daily Netphone Value Pack | P20 | unli | unli | 10 MB | n/a | 50 on net |
2. It's just HOT! Let's face it. In the Philippines - at least, Samsung Galaxy Y without SmartNet services is perhaps half the phone that it is. Smart has been advertising this phone so much that it's hard to imagine Samsung Galaxy Y as not a Smart Netphone. So just get it from Smart and be HOT yourself.
Anyway. I think it's a good phone and everyone should check it out.

Wondering what makes today, November 11, 2011 or 11/11/11 so special aside from the date being an obvious string of 1s?
Well, according to The Spirit Library, angels often communicate with humans using number sequences,
In the mysterious field of astrology, on the other hand, a string of 1s symbolizes a magnetic force or kundalini attracting money and sex. Likewise, the sequence reflects the energy flow of water, which is universally seen as a symbol of luck. (source)
All things considered, I believe it makes sense to see 11/11/11 as an ideal day for making wishes. And apparently, a lot of Pinoys in social networking sites have the same belief.
Currently, keywords related to 11/11/11 are trending not only in Twitter but also in Yahoo Seach Philippines --
11/11/11 could very well be a lucky day but let's not forget that regardless of the date, all of us can make our wishes come true with hard-work, focus, love, dedication and patience matched with sincere prayers to our Lord.

The angels say: "We can't write our messages to you in the sky. You've got to pay attention and believe when you see any patterns forming in your life especially in response to any questions or prayers you've posed. When you hear the same song repeatedly or see the same number sequence, who do you think is behind this? Your angels, of course!"
