Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet Philippines Price, Complete Specs, Release Date Posted: 19 Nov 2011 03:45 AM PST TechPinas Exclusive! Breaking news! A friend who runs an online gadget store has just told me that the first batch of Amazon Kindle Fire units to be sold in our country are already in a big ship headed for Manila. Not sure if the details are 100% accurate (i.e., Are the tablets really on a ship? Or are they on a plane? Is it really big ship? Or is it just a small ship? etc.), but my friend is 100% confident that the tablets will arrive in Pinas within a week or so. Isn't that great?! Anyway. For those who are not yet familiar with the gadget, Kindle Fire is a Wifi-only tablet from Amazon with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen and a dual-core processor that runs an OS that appears to be an Android derivative -- allowing the device to run a few Android apps on top of Amazon bookstore app, Amazon Silk web-browser and an e-book reader app. Although not having a camera, microphone nor Bluetooth and 3G connectivity support, Kindle Fire nonetheless comes with a price tag that almost anyone can afford. In the US, Amazon Kindle Fire sells for only $199; That's only around Php 8,600 with current conversion and before taxes. As for the Philippines, I'm expecting the tablet to be priced at around Php 10,000 to Php 12,000 once it becomes available. So there. Kindly let your tablet-loving friends know by sharing this post.
