Friends, as some of you know, I won a Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 unit during the launch of the supersmartphone in the Philippines a few days back. (So before anything, let me say, 'Thank you, Samsung Philippines! I love the phone!')
TP Friends, let me share with you a video of my Samsung Galaxy Note undergoing our traditional One-Handed TechPinas Unboxing. If you will, watch the clip: You'll be pleasantly shocked at how big Samsung Galaxy Note is in the flesh! So what's inside the box? We have the Samsung Galaxy Note unit itself, the 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery, the charger, the Quick Start Guide, the warranty card, the microUSB to USB connector cable, earphones, and a pack of extra silicon ear buds. Again, Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 - with official suggested retail price of Php 35,990 - is now out in the Philippines via authorized retail outlets. Check it out! NEXT: My initial impressions. Let's do this slowly, TP Friends. :) |

It looks like Globe Telecom is already more than prepared for the launch of Globe iPhone4S on the 16th!
In fact, the company has just posted some photos on Facebook showing that the first batch of iPhone 4S units have already arrived in Manila - just for its loyal subscribers!
"Globe iPhone 4S stocks, first to arrive in PH," shares Globe on FB.
TP Friends, it's clear that Globe is wasting no time finalizing the nitty-gritty; Globe Santas are now busy packing the 'Apples' for the big day:

Cool. Now, let's wait for photos from Smart. :)

Samsung Galaxy W is positioned between the ultra-affordable Samsung Galaxy Y and the flagship-level Samsung Galaxy S2.
And it's in the middle of those not only in terms of size and price tag but also when it comes to technical specifications. So if you think you need more than what SGY can offer but you find SGS2's SRP and features a bit too much, then SGW could very well be the phone for you.
The W in Samsung Galaxy W means 'Wonder'. Isn't that - uhm - wonderful?
SGW runs the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with its 1.4GHz single-core processor and flaunts a 3.7- inch full touchscreen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution.
According to Samsung, SGW is for people who want to live fast and live smart. I don't know. I just think the phone looks cute.
So what are the other key features? Samsung Galaxy W comes replete with 5 MegaPixel camera with auto-focus lens and LED Flash, high-definition video recorder, 1.7 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card slot, microUSB port, loud speaker and 3.5mm audio jack. As for connectivity, SGY supports Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G.
Like its more expensive brother - the SGS2, SGW features Social Hub - an application from Samsung that lets you easily manage and update your social networking accounts, Google Services Suite including Google Search, Android Market and Google Maps among others, and seamless social networking integration for convenient sharing of content.
SGW is now available in the Philippines via Samsung's authorized retailers. The official suggested retail price of this midrange smartphone is Php 16,990.
So am I recommending this phone? First off, I think SGW is a great phone; It looks nice and the specs are good. But you know what? Php 17,000 is already - uhm - a lot. In my humble opinion, if you're already inclined to spend that much on a smartphone, I'd suggest you just add a bit more to it and go for a dual-core flagship release like Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation or even LG Optimus 2X -- just to future-proof your purchase. I won't stop you from taking a look at SGW, though.
Anyway, staying true to our tradition here in TP, here are the complete specs of the handset:

As I've earlier explained on TP, the Pro version of any Samsung Galaxy handset is characterized by a physical QWERTY keyboard as well as strong 'business' features; Samsung Galaxy Y Pro, for example, is equipped with the "Think Free" Office Document Editor, allowing you to view and edit MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on-the-move.
"The Samsung GALAXY Y Pro is the perfect device for professionals looking to manage their busy work and social lives" said Binggoy Mauricio, SEPCO Business Unit Director Samsung′s Mobile Communications Business. "When you want to get ahead - and stay ahead - of the game, you want a Smartphone that can give you the edge. With immediate access to your work and social communities via Social Hub Premium, and the endless application experiences afforded by Android Market, the GALAXY Y Pro gives you that edge."
Aside from its 2.6-inch touch-friendly display, optical trackpad, physical keyboard and wide range of connectivity options including Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G, the phone comes with multimedia features like its 3 MegaPixel camera, music player, and a QVGA video recorder. Here are other cool and useful stuff you can with Samsung Galaxy Y Pro:

One of the things (among so many) that I love about HTC is the fact that the company is always mindful of their loyal consumers - even those who purchased their handsets more than a year back.
Case in point: The Android 2.3.5 firmware upgrade that's coming to HTC Desire HD. In fact, the company has just started rolling out the update in various territories. So if you're one of the millions who own this phone, you can check if you can already download the latest version of Android Gingerbread by going to Settings, About Phone, System Software Updates then clicking on the Check Now button. Don't feel bad if you don't immediately get the notification; HTC is releasing the software upgrade by batches so it will definitely come to your phone -- sooner or later.
So what does this upgrade bring to HTC Desire HD? Slightly longer uptime, faster performance, improved task manager, no-root screen capture (home button plus screen lock button), and sleeker user interface.
One of the best-selling phones of HTC, HTC Desire HD was the company's flagship handset for the latter part of 2010 until the first quarter of 2011. During its release, the handset - wrapped in a stunning unibody aluminum case - donned the nothing but the best technical specifications that HTC could deliver at that point, including a 1 GHz processor, an 8 MegaPixel camera with dual LED flash, and a high-definition 720p video recorder, among others. Android 2.2 Froyo was the operating system of HTC Desire HD during its launch in the Philippines in December of 2010.
Also, as some of you know, HTC Desire HD was one of my everyday phones for the first half of 2011 -- along with Nokia N8.
