Samsung Galaxy Y Wallpaper Download and Installation 5-Step Guide

Posted: 03 Jan 2012 01:06 PM PST

One of the questions I received most in the TP Mailbox over the Yuletide is about Samsung Galaxy Y (, which tells me that Samsung must have sold truck-loads of that phone last December.)

It goes like, "Dear TP, I've just upgraded from Samsung Corby2 to Samsung Galaxy Y. Where can I download wallpapers for this thing?"

TP Answer:

First off, I'm sorry for not being able to reply to your emails last month as my sched had been very tight. I celebrated my 28th birthday last December 23, then Christmas came. Then New Year's. So there. I hope it's alright, TP Friends.

Anyway. On to my answer; For those who are coming from Corby2, you have to remember that Samsung Galaxy Y is an Android phone and as such, it's more powerful and it lets you do things - like browsing the web, downloading ringtones, among other stuff - a lot easier than you would on Corby2.

For downloading and changing wallpapers, the easiest way to do on SGY it is to first get an application made specifically for it. There are several such apps in the Android Market and my favorite is Zedge.

1. So the first thing you need to do is to connect to a Wifi network. After that, open Android Market and look for Zedge. Download the app and install it on your phone.

2. Launch Zedge.

3. Click on 'Wallpapers', browse through the files and click on the one you like.

4. Let the page load then click on that button in the yellow circle to download and install the wallpapers. That's all you have to do.

5. Voila! You have a new wallpaper! To change it, just go back to step 2. Or alternatively, you can choose one of the photos in your Gallery to be your wallpaper.

There you go. I hope you find this helpful.

Two Asian Girls Beaten Up Mercilessly by a Bunch of Men : Captured on Video, Hot on Facebook!

This is downright infuriating.

asian girls
One girl fell to the floor after being hit in the head.

I was browsing my Facebook News Feed earlier when I saw this video:

WARNING: This video shows violence against women.

Just watching it makes me sick in the stomach. These men aren't human.

Recorded and uploaded on Youtube on January 2, 2012, the clips shows a gang of men punching and slapping two helpless Asian women with reckless abandon for undisclosed reasons while other women watch on, perhaps waiting to be beaten up as well.

Some Youtube and Facebook users are saying that the guys are Burmese while the girls are either Filipino or Burmese as well.

As of writing, the video has already gone viral on Facebook with a lot of users saying that we should help the poor victims. I agree. Regardless of nationality or even gender, no one deserves to be treated like that. What was done to them is plain inhumane and clearly against human rights. What's scary is that this could be something that's being done to them regularly.

It's 2012 and it's sad that there's still so much violence in the world. When will humanity ever learn?

End of the World 2012 : Concern of Netizens, Nostradamus Hot on Google Search!

Posted: 03 Jan 2012 05:37 AM PST

The seemingly all-knowing Mayans predicted it many centuries ago. Jay Sean - looking for a hit - even released a song about it two years back. But will the world actually end this year?!

A lot of netizens want to know for sure - even more now than in the past 90 days. And, in search of answers, they turned to their keyboards and Googled the name of that one person who seems to have likewise predicted it all:

nostradamus
Nostradamus, born on December 21, 1503, is a French apothecary and reputed seer who published collections of prophecies that have since become famous worldwide. He is best known for his book Les Propheties (The Prophecies). Nostradamus enthusiasts have credited him with predicting numerous events in world history, from the Great Fire of London, and the rise of Napoleon and Adolf Hitler, to the 11 September attacks on the World Trade Center. [via]

Based on data gathered by Google Insights for Search over the past 90 days, interest in the keyword Nostramus - which translates to interest in the man himself - shot through the roof from December 31, 2011 to January 2, 2012. From getting only around 25% of search volume data during the first week of October 2011, the keyword enjoys a whopping 100% search interest as of writing. According to Google, "The numbers on the graph reflect how many searches have been done for a particular term, relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time. They don't represent absolute search volume numbers, because the data is normalized and presented on a scale from 0-100." Sounds complicated, but if anything, 100% in normalized data can only mean a large chunk of the entirety.

nostradamus

OK. A lot of people are turning to Nostradamus for answers but what did he say exactly?

Quoting this site, which studies everything Nostradamus wrote about the end of the world among other theories,

2012 Nostradamus predictions paint a bleak picture of massive destruction and havoc brought about by a comet. It is not clear whether this comet will strike the earth or will pass very close to our planet, causing massive earthquakes and other cataclysmic occurrences. But all interpreters of his quatrains are united on the opinion that it will be a comet which will come somewhere in December 2012. Nostradamus writes in one of his quatrains –

"In the sky will be seen a great fire dragging a trail of sparks."

This line clearly suggest a comet and many are of the opinion that it will be very big in size. Certain interpreters put the size to be just a little less than the planet Jupiter, and if such a comet passes close to the earth the effect of its gravity will cause the oceans to rise and also give rise to earthquakes. [...]

He mentions – "The Great Star will blaze for Seven days" meaning the comet will be very near the earth for seven days and nights. Further he says – "The Huge dog will howl at night, when the great pontiff will change lands." The great dog is taken to be the United Kingdom by many interpreters, and the line suggests its destruction. The pontiff is taken to be the pope and hence Rome too will be destroyed.

Comet the size of Jupiter?!

Anyway. I think only God knows when exactly the end will be.
