Facebook vs. Google : FB Blocks Safe Blogger Blogspot Links, Calls Them Spammy, Unsafe! Posted: 11 Jan 2012 10:05 AM PST TechPinas Exclusive: We already know Facebook doesn't particularly see Google as an ally -- thanks to that borderline tell-all Mark Zuckerberg interview. But I never imagined that this day would come: Yes, it appears Facebook has quietly pressed the Block button on all Blogger or Blogspot links - even safe ones, effectively preventing FB users from sharing the content on their Timelines or Facebook Pages. What's FB's reason for doing so, you ask? Well, for some reason, Facebook all of a sudden deemed such links generally 'spammy' and 'unsafe'. Acquired by Google in 2003, Blogger "is a blog-publishing service that allows private or multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. [...] Generally, the blogs are hosted by Google at a subdomain of blogspot.com." [source] It remains to be seen whether this is merely a bug in Facebook's system or if it's actually one of the moves of FB in severing all ties with Google. TP is hosted on Blogger so I'm really hoping it's just the former. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
BlackBerry Bold 9790 Price Philippines Php 22,890 - The More Affordable Bold Posted: 11 Jan 2012 07:35 AM PST Blackberry Bold 9790 released: The More Affordable Bold Flaunting Both a Capacitive Touch Display and Hardware Keyboard If Curves are the entry-level BlackBerry handsets ideal for students and young consumers, the Bold line has come to be known as the high-end mobile device of businessmen and people who belong to the corporate world. BlackBerry Bold phones have traditionally been issued by companies to mid-to-high level officers in corporations, making them a status symbol. Today, Blackberry added a new handset in its high-end line: the BlackBerry Bold 9790, offering a balance of power and portability. Traditionally, the smallest BB smartphones are reserved for the Curve line. Although the lightest and most portable, they are considered to be a bit underpowered by "power users" who look for faster response times and multitasking in their BB devices. Meanwhile, the Bold lineup are equipped with powerful processors sufficient for these particular customers. They are powerful devices but have slightly larger dimensions, and considered as bulky by some. The market segment who wish to own BBs that are easier to fit in pockets and purses, while at the same time demand sufficient speed and power in their mobile devices would find satisfaction in the performance and form factor of the BB Bold 9790. But what particular features will they get from this smartphone?
I think yhe BB 9790 is an intriguing device because it's one of the few phones in the Bold product line that's light, slim and sexy all at the same time. Traditionally, BlackBerry Bolds exude powerful character but its bulkiness is already part of its image. Now, this gives new perspective to the word Bold. It would be great to see this device more up close once it is released in the market. More new BlackBerries to come! Posted: 10 Jan 2012 11:30 PM PST 5 New Blackberry Models Launched in the Philippines! Hello TP friends! I'm Mon Arguelles, I'm a tech enthusiast luckily chosen by TP to be your newest writer/contributor. I'm quite honored and excited to give you compelling stories and analysis about your favorite gadgets in an easy reading format. My first assignment was to cover the BlackBerry Event which happened yesterday, January 10, 2012 at The Establishment. A product launch hosted by Rovilson Fernandez. If you have been reading international tech sites, you may have come across articles stating that last year, Research in Motion (RIM) (makers of BlackBerry Smartphones) lost market shares in Northern America and Europe due to competition. But on the other hand, their sales in Asia had been very strong, and one particular market that they are doing very well is in the Philippines. This year, they have taken a definite step towards strengthening their market presence in this part of the globe. As announced by Mr. Francois Mahieu, (RIM Senior Director for Product Management in Asia Pacific), RIM will be releasing 5 new smartphones in an effort to win the battle across various Philippine market segments. These 5 Blackberries have 2 common features: First, they all incorporate capacitive touch screens as a means to navigate through the interface. This strategy may be a means of adapting to the changing demands of the market in mobile phones; moving towards a more touch-centric experience. Second, they all run on the latest OS - the Blackerry 7, which features smooth transitions and is optimized towards both touch and trackpad navigation. The first smartphone, I'm going to introduce is the Blackberry Curve 9380. Among the BlackBerry product lines, the Curves are the best selling devices in the Philippines. There are 2 factors in my personal opinion that contributed to this: Affordability and the seamless integration to social networks like Facebook and Twitter. And today, BB added another product to the Curve line: the 9380, which is its first full touch screen device in this category. Aside from the 3.2-inch capacitive high resolution display which allows users to utilize this smartphone for multimedia consumption such as YouTube, video files and internet browsing and content sharing, the phone has the following key features:
Stay tuned for more writeups about the other new BB Smartphones!
