Nokia 808 PureView Sample Photos Taken Using its 41 MegaPixel Camera : Stunning, Incredible! Posted: 27 Feb 2012 02:36 PM PST The proof - they say - is always in the pudding. Nokia 808 PureView - the Finnish giant's newest flagship Symbian smartphone - has a camera featuring a whopping 41 Megapixel sensor. Such resolution is not only unprecedented in mobile imaging, it also sets a new standard for what consumers can expect to get from any camera - for that matter - from here on out. Now, I wouldn't be the first to tell you that I'm a photographer - because obviously I'm not - but if there's anything I know for sure about photos, it's that the quality of an image can hardly be measured in terms of the size or resolution alone. I mean, who'd want to keep billboard-sized photos that are terribly blurry? Nokia - of course, being the true leader in camera phones - is well aware of this. So instead of merely stretching the size of photos consumers can get from a mobile device, the company focused on the quality, clarity and brilliance of shots that Nokia 808 PureView can deliver, regardless of the lighting condition. Taking advantage of the phone's 41 MegaPixel sensor and Carl Zeiss optics, Nokia made use of an imaging technology called oversampling, which - in this case - condenses seven to eight pixels of information into one pure pixel resulting in the sharpest images imaginable and perhaps more importantly, in an improved performance in low-light settings. Want proof? Well, here are five 'condensed' outdoor images - in various lighting conditions - taken using Nokia 808 PureView, courtesy of Nokia Corporation (click image for larger view): Absolutely stunning, don't you think? Can't wait to play with a unit!
HTC One 2012 Android 4.0 Smartphone Line-Up : HTC One X, S, V, XL, Unveiled! Get to Know Them! Posted: 27 Feb 2012 08:11 AM PST Earlier today, Taiwanese electronics giant, HTC Corporation, officially unveiled its 2012 Android smartphone line-up at the Mobile World Congress being held in Barcelona, Spain. In 2010, we saw the best-selling Desire line of smartphones; The gorgeous Beats-powered Sensation group followed in 2011. This year, HTC chose an intriguing nomenclature for its upcoming Android handset releases. Check out the 2012 HTC One smartphone line-up: HTC One S, HTC One X and HTC One V, respectively. Let's get to know them one by one. HTC One X is the most powerful and feature-packed handset in the line-up. As earlier disclosed on TP, HTC One X runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS skinned by HTC Sense 4.0 with its Quad Core processor featuring NVIDIA's Tegra 3 chipset and has a gig of RAM for seamless multitasking. Other key specifications include a sizable 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 display with 720p resolution, curved 3D Gorilla Glass capacitive touchsceen, 32 GB of internal storage, an 8 MegaPixel camera with autofocus and LED flash at the back, and a Full HD 1080p video recorder. Supported connectivity options include Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G; There's a dual-core variant, however, that supports LTE called HTC One XL. In the middle of the pack is HTC One S. Although running ICS with just a 1.5 GHz Dual Core Snapdragon S4 processor and having a smaller 4.3 SuperAMOLED display compared to HTC One X, HTC One S is nonetheless slimmer - in fact, with depth of only 7.6 millimeters, it's the slimmest handset HTC has released so far - and perhaps more durable with its crystalline ceramic metal enclosure. Interestingly, just like HTC One X, 16GB HTC One S also comes with an 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera and a Full HD video camera. Finally, we have the HTC Legend look-alike HTC One V. If HTC Legend was once the true flagship phone of the Taiwanese company, HTC One V - also clad in aluminum unibody enclosure - is HTC's borderline entry-level Android smartphone this year. Running ICS with a 1 GHz single core CPU, HTC One V flaunts a 5 MegaPixel camera and 720p video recorder, has only 4GB of internal storage and supports Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One V will ship with Beats earphones and feature Beats software to enhance audio experience. Also, although all phones mentioned in this post lack a microSD card slot for expanding memory, HTC made sure users won't run out of storage space by giving them free 25GB Dropbox account for two years. So why One? Maybe because that's the global smartphone sales rank HTC wants get this year. We'll keep you posted on exact release date and pricing details of these handsets as soon as we hear official word from the Taiwanese company. Kindly stay tuned for updates, TP Friends.
Nokia 808 PureView Philippines Price Guesstimate, Imaging Features Explained, Demo Video Posted: 27 Feb 2012 04:54 AM PST Nokia Corporation may be altogether sidelining Symbian in favor of Windows Phone as the operating system of its future smartphones but the imaging capabilities of its supposedly last Symbian flagship release could very well make it a classic, a handset that will remain to be a leader in its category for many years. More powerful than a lot of full-fledged point-and-shoot digicams out in the market, Nokia 808 Pureview features a camera with a staggering, unprecedented 41 MegaPixel sensor -- That's more than thrice the resolution you'll get with the best camera phone in the world - until a few hours ago, TP-Favorite Nokia N8! But 808's such large sensor is hardly about snapping billboard-sized images, it's about having enough power to shoot normal sized - 5 to 8 Megapixel - photos with stunning clarity and brilliance. Nokia 808 PureView achieves this by using an mobile imaging technology called 'oversampling' which combines up to seven pixels into one 'pure' pixel. This eliminates visual noise found on most cameraphones and improves the Nokia 808 PureView camera's performance in low light conditions. On top of this, you can zoom in on a subject without losing a lot of details in the shot. Nokia 808 PureView has a great still camera but its video recorder is just as good. The handset flaunts a Full HD 1080p videocam which shoots clips at 30 frames per second. With 4X lossless zoom, a big sensor and powerful image processing handling over a billion pixels per second, Nokia 808 PureView lets users zoom in while recording videos and have peace of mind in knowing that no detail will be lost. At lower resolutions, you get even more lossless zoom; 6X at 720p and 12X zoom in nHD (640 x 360) setting. Also, thanks to Nokia's new Rich Recording technology, videos shot using Nokia 808 PureView don't only look clear, but also sound clear; "CD-like," Nokia promises. Clearly the new best camera phone in the world today, Nokia 808 PureView may be a multimedia powerhouse but it's still a smartphone though and though. The phone flaunts a 4-inch 360 x 640 pixels AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, runs Symbian Belle OS with its 1.3 GHz processor and handles multitasking with its 512MB of RAM. For storage, the phone has 16GB of internal space which users can expand via the microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB. As for connectivity, Nokia 808 PureView supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G. Nokia 808 PureView will be available globally by around May this year. The Finnish company has yet to disclose the phone's official suggested retail price but I'm guessing this would hit store shelves with a Php 25,000 to Php 30,000 price tag.

Nokia 808 PureView Specifications, 41 MegaPixel Camera Phone, Video Recording Features, Release Date Posted: 27 Feb 2012 01:42 AM PST Today, mobile phone leader Nokia Corporation practically set a new standard by which the world will judge smartphone imaging with its new flagship handset, the Nokia 808 PureView. As the very first smartphone to feature Nokia PureView Imaging Technologies, Nokia 808 PureView brings together high resolution sensors, renowned Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia developed camera algorithms, which will help usher in new top-of-the-line smartphone imaging experiences for future Nokia handsets. A monster of a cameraphone, Nokia 808 PureView flaunts a large, high-resolution 41 megapixel sensor, new pixel oversampling technology and high-performance Carl Zeiss optics. At standard resolutions - like 5 and 8 megapixels - this means that the phone will have the ability to condense seven pixels of information into one pixel resulting in sharpest images imaginable as well as the ability to zoom without loss of clarity. With its camera set to high-resolutions (of up to 38 megapixels), Nokia 808 PureView has the ability to zoom in and capture an image, crop and resize afterwards to expose incredible levels of detail. With superior low-light performance - that can perhaps match or surpass that of iPhone 4S - and the ability to save in compact file sizes for sharing in social networks, emails, and MMS, Nokia 808 PureView is truly a smartphone users fond of taking photos with their handsets can rely on. On top of its superior still imaging capabilities, Nokia 808 PureView also features full HD 1080p video recording and playback with 4X 'lossless' zoom - which means it captures fine details even at full zoom - and the an all-new technology called 'Nokia Rich Recording'. Nokia Rich Recording enables recording of audio at CD-like levels of quality, previously possible only with external microphones. The phone also comes with Dolby Digital Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback and exclusive Dolby Headphone technology, transforming stereo content into a personal surround sound experience over any type of headphone. "Nokia PureView imaging technology sets a new industry standard by whatever measure you use," shares Jo Harlow, Nokia Smart Devices - Executive Vice President. "People will inevitably focus on the 41 megapixel sensor, but the real quantum leap is how the pixels are used to deliver breath-taking image quality at any resolution and the freedom it provides to choose the story you want to tell." Mark's Note: Contrary to TP's prediction, Nokia went with Symbian Belle as Nokia 808 PureView's operating system -- which is all good. As you know, I was really hoping Nokia would finally go with WP on this phone as its monstrous imaging specifications alone could very well help propel the popularity of Windows Phone platform to unimaginable levels. Then again, that's just me as a big Nokia fan thinking and hoping. Who knows, maybe next year the best cameraphone in the world will finally be a WP release. I own a Nokia N8, which I named 'Ocho' (if you remember), and I'm totally excited to include Nokia 808 PureView in my smartphone line-up. Nokia 808 PureView will be available worldwide come May 2012. No word yet on the pricing details but I'm guessing this will enter the market with a Php 25,000 - Php 30,000 price tag. More about this powerhouse smartphone on TP soon so kindly stay tuned. In true TP fashion, we wrap up this entry by giving you the complete technical specifications of the new best camera phone in the world today, Nokia 808 PureView --
