Posted: 12 Apr 2012 07:47 PM PDT TechPinas Exclusive! The most affordable member of HTC's 2012 One family of Android handsets is now officially out in the Philippines! You can get HTC One V free of contract at any branch of Digital Walker for only Php 16,500. Wrapped in unibody gunmetal case, HTC One V is the most affordable smartphone in the Taiwanese company's 2012 One series. Although lacking supposedly top-notch Android smartphone innards and specification, HTC One V nonetheless comes with the key features HTC fans have grown to love on their phones though the years, including solid construction, gorgeous design, Beats Audio and HTC Sense. I got to play with the device during Digital Walker's intimate blogger event for HTC One phones held the other night. Allow me to share my initial impressions of the device. 1. The first time I saw HTC One V in photos last February, I thought it looked almost exactly like my HTC Legend. Getting the chance to hold HTC's most afforable 2012 smartphone for the first time during the event, I realized that design isn't the only thing it has in common with the company's flagship handset from 2009. Similar materials are also used in their construction; Both phones have same metal unibody shell, matte plastic battery cover, and scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass touchscreen. These element not only make the phone elegant and more expensive than it actually is but they also contribute to the handset's overall durable feel. 2. Upon its release in 2009, HTC Legend had an SRP of Php 32,000. Its look-alike from 2012 (with better specs), on the other hand, only sells for Php 16,500. I guess that says a lot about how fast technology is moving. And that's great, really. As an owner of HTC Legend, however, that kinda made me feel bad. Not that I have plans of selling my old phone (because I don't really intend to -- afterall, it's a landmark device) but I guess it would be impossible for me to price HTC Legend higher than Php 16,500. 3. One of the coolest new features of HTC Sense 4.0 that you can get with HTC One V is ImageSense, which lets users capture photos while shooting videos. I think this is great for bloggers who are always out to cover events or even for casual users who just love to capture every moment. 4. Like the more expensive HTC One X, HTC One V also has Beats-All-The-Time. This feature allows users to enjoy enhanced sound experience not just when listening to music files but also while watching Youtube clips or even videos recorded using the phone. 5. Despite having only a 1GHz processor, HTC One V runs Android 4.0 quite well. During the short time I spend using the phone, I didn't encounter any noticeable lags or crashes while vieiwing photos or videos or while navigating the UI. More about HTC One V on TechPinas soon. Stay tuned for updates. Meanwhile, if you will, check out this quick demo video of the phone;
