Motorola Droid Razr Philippines Price, Specs, Release Date, Thinnest Android Phone Currently!

Posted: 21 Nov 2011 11:46 AM PST

I've seen the TVC on ETC, have you?

The fact that Motorola's running television commercials again in the Philippines can only mean one thing: Moto's back!

And it's back with a vengeance!

"Hello (again) Moto!" : Motorola Droid Razr proves that when it comes to slim phones, Moto is still king. Remember your old Motorola Razr clamshell?! Well, this phone takes inspiration from that best-seller.

With depth of only 7.1 mm, Motorola Droid Razr has clearly superseded the 8.5mm-thick Samsung Galaxy S2 as the thinnest Android smartphone in the world today.

But just because it's thin doesn't mean it's any less powerful. In fact, Moto Droid Razr's physical depth is a complete anti-thesis to the depth of features that come with it.

Running the latest version of Android Gingerbread OS with its 1.2 GHz dual core processor, "splash-resistant" Motorola Droid Razr flaunts a massive 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with scratch-resistant Gorilla glass touchscreen, an 8 MegaPixel camera with autofocus and LED flash at the back, a 2 MegaPixel shooter in front, Full HD 1080p video recorder, and even an HDMI port. As for connectivity, the handset supports Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G and LTE.

Following Google's recent acquisition of Motorola, it seems the phone company is now all the more serious about being the best Android phone manufacturer in the world (, which should be the case anyway). Now, if the design and technical specifications of Motorola Droid Razr were indicative of where the company is headed, it should be all good.

So when will Motorola Droid Razr arrive in the Philippines and how much will it cost? Actually, I'm already seeing a few online stores sell this phone for around Php 33,500 -- which is fair enough, I think. However, MemoXpress - the official distributor of Motorola phones in the Philippines - has yet to make a formal announcement on the availability of the handset.

Anyway, while we're all awaiting updates, you might want to check out the complete technical specifications of Motorola Droid Razr:

Cherry Mobile T8 Price, Specs, Features - CM's Most Popular Phone?!

Posted: 21 Nov 2011 09:50 AM PST

I've said this before and I will say it again: It doesn't take a Gus Abelgas to figure out that Cherry Mobile is currently doing well in the market.

I mean, as if it's not enough to have flagship primetime stars Kim Chiu and John Lloyd Cruz as celebrity endorsers, CM had also recently enlisted the services of both Willie Revillame and Robin Padilla to promote the brand. Talk about having boatloads of cash to spend on advertising. (Come on, it's not like stars of their caliber would be OK with ex-deal.)

Even in malls, of all local handset distributors, CM seems to have the biggest stores. It's true. In SM North EDSA Annex, for example, Cherry Mobile even has a full-fledged customer support center.

Now, if you won't take having 'expensive' star endorsers and big stores in prime locations as indicative of CM's success, I don't know what else will do that for you. Seriously.

'The' Phone

Like other successful phone companies, Cherry Mobile must have that one break-out phone that greatly helped catapult the brand to where it is today.

I've always been fond of marketing so I did my research to find out which phone did that for CM exactly.

The first thing I did was talk to a few CM phone users. I asked them, "Ano bang pinakasikat na CM phone sa lahat-lahat [What's the most popular CM phone ever]?" Then I went to the CM Store in SM Megamall and asked sales ladies the same question.

Some of my 'respondents' gave me a number of popular CM handsets but all of them mentioned this phone:

I'm not really a Cherry Mobile user so I find this info totally shocking.

Cherry Mobile T8, which currently sells for only Php 2,499, is a Dual SIM full-touchscreen phone with a 2.6-inch resistive touchscreen, 2 MegaPixel camera, Wireless FM radio, Analog TV, Bluetooth connectivity support, microSD card slot supporting up to 8GB and a bunch of Java games pre-installed. To geeks and gadget-connoisseurs, I'm sure this phone won't look like much -- but small as it is, T8 could very well be one of the reasons why Cherry Mobile is growing bigger by the day.

Even data gathered by Google Insights for Search from the last 10 months seem to agree with the results of my survey.

So what does this discovery about CM's most popular phone tell us?

TP Thoughts:

Based on its form factor and price point, Cherry Mobile T8 appears to be a direct competitor to Samsung Corby -- with T8 being a cheaper alternative to the aspirational and more expensive Corby handset. As far as I know, Corby and its many touchscreen variants and updates are some of Samsung's most popular handsets in our country. All these considered, it's clear that midrange-borderline-entry-level touchscreen phones are becoming more and more popular in the Philippines and the companies that recognized this ahead of the others are now the ones that are greatly reaping the benefits of this fresh demand.
