BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 delivers an enhanced tablet experience and allows you to use the BlackBerry PlayBook in new ways throughout the day be it at work or at play.

"Building on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet's proven web browsing, multimedia and multitasking strengths, the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 introduces a range of new communications and productivity enhancements as well as expanded app and content support," said David J. Smith, Senior Vice President for Mobile Computing, Research In Motion.

New BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 features include:

  • Integrated email client with a powerful unified inbox: With BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 you have the option to use a unified inbox that consolidates all messages in one place, including messages from Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as personal and work email accounts.
  • Social Integration with Calendar and Contacts apps: The built-in calendar harnesses information from social networks and makes it available where and when users need it. Contact cards are also dynamically populated with updated information from Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to create a consolidated view of contacts.
  • Updated BlackBerry Bridge app: BlackBerry Bridge is a unique app that provides a Bluetooth connection between your BlackBerry PlayBook and core apps on your BlackBerry smartphone (including BBM, Email, Contacts, Calendar and Browser) in order to let you view the content on the larger tablet display. With BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, it's easier and quicker than ever to take documents, web pages, emails and photos that appear on your BlackBerry smartphone and display them on your BlackBerry PlayBook for an optimized viewing and editing experience. The updated BlackBerry Bridge app also provides a new remote control feature that allows a BlackBerry smartphone to be used as a wireless keyboard and mouse for a BlackBerry PlayBook.
  • Improved mobile productivity: Updated document editing functions, the new Print To Go app, and increased control and manageability of corporate data with BlackBerry Balance, allow you to get more out of your BlackBerry PlayBook every day. Plus, an updated virtual keyboard with auto correction and predictive next word completion learns how you type to enable faster, more accurate typing.
  • New apps and content: Thousands of new apps are being added to BlackBerry App World today (including a range of Android apps that will run on the BlackBerry PlayBook). A new BlackBerry Video Store1 is launching today. Enhanced web browsing capabilities are also available with BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0.
In conjunction with the release of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, RIM is making available an initial release of BlackBerry Mobile Fusion that will include support for managing BlackBerry PlayBook tablets and BlackBerry smartphones in an enterprise. The full release of BlackBerry Mobile Fusion (with mobile device management capabilities for iOS and Android devices) is planned for general availability in late March 2012.

Western Digital My Book Live Duo Price, Features, Availability in the Philippines

Western Digital has recently introduced My Book Live Duo, a personal cloud storage system that combines the benefits of shared storage and remote access with double-safe backup or increased capacity of a dual-drive system with RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology. To put it simply, it's one of the most secure remote storage and entertainment devices out in the market today.

Double-Safe Backup

Compatible with both PC and Mac OS, My Book Live Duo continuously maintains a second copy of all your files for real-time data backup in mirrored mode (RAID 1). Half the capacity is used to store users' data and half is used for a second copy. In the unlikely event that one drive fails, data is protected because it's duplicated on the other drive. For automatic backup, Windows users can use the included WD SmartWare software while Mac users can utilize all the features of Apple Time Machine backup software to protect their data.

Maximum Performance and Storage Capacity

In spanning mode, the two-drive system combines both drives into one large volume which acts as one drive for maximum storage space, while its built-in 800 MHz CPU should deliver enough power and performance needed for today's most demanding applications. Featuring recent advances in Ethernet chip technology, My Book Live Duo personal cloud - currently available in 4 TB and 6 TB capacities - delivers read speeds faster than traditional USB 2.0 drives.

WD's Personal Cloud

As with WD's My Book Live personal cloud storage solution, the device connects to the home network to create shared storage that users can access within the home or anywhere on the planet through secure remote access. Remote access to My Book Live and My Book Live Duo is available on any computer through WD2go.com and via WD mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, or Android tablets and smartphones.

Home Entertainment Hub

Additionally, My Book Live Duo system's built-in media server streams music, movies, and photos to any DLNA-certified multimedia device such as PlayStation 3, smart TVs, Blu-ray Disc play, WD TV Live streaming media player, as well as Xbox 360s. Users can also stream movies, photos and music to their tablet or smartphone directly from My Book Live Duo through the WD 2go mobile application.

"My Book Live Duo is really the ideal, all-in-one storage and entertainment solution for today's ultra-connected consumer," explains Chris Bull, Director of Marketing for WD's Connected Home Solutions group.

"The ability for consumers to safely backup all their digital content, as well as access and share content from anywhere in the world on their tablet, smartphone or any computer, truly provides a unique and rewarding experience for anyone who wants to enjoy, and needs to protect, valuable digital content."

My Book Live Duo is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard, or Lion, as well as DLNA/UPnP enabled devices.

Price and Availability

My Book Live Duo personal cloud storage is now available at select retailers and is distributed by Iontech Technologies Inc. in the Philippines. The official suggested retail price is Php 19,290 for the 4 TB version and Php 22,900 for 6 TB.
