Facebook Timeline : Lets You Share The Story of Your Life by the Year and More!

Just finished watching one of my idols, Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg, give his keynote speech at this year's f8 event.

He made several key announcements on the future of FB like how the new era of Facebook will be all about user engagement (following the previous era, which was focused more on growth)...

and how developers can use OpenGraph to create apps that are even more social, making sharing content like music, movies and publications simpler and more engaging.

A lot of cool new stuff coming to Facebook, really. But the upcoming FB feature Mark introduced that I'm most excited about is Facebook Timeline.

facebook timeline

Facebook Timeline is basically your Facebook profile page re-imagined.

"With timeline, now you have a home for all the great stories you've already shared. They don't just vanish as you add new stuff. Timeline is wider than your old profile, and it's a lot more visual. The first thing you'll notice is the giant photo right at the top. This is your cover, and it's completely up to you which of your photos you put here.," shares Mr. Zuckerberg.

Mark's Timeline cover is a photo of his dog named 'Beast'.

"As you scroll down past your cover, you'll see your posts, photos and life events as they happened in time. You choose what's featured on your timeline. You can star your favorites to double their size or hide things altogether."

Facebook Timeline is practically your digital autobiography right on FB. It captures the story of life by the year via photos, videos, important Facebook status updates and practically everything you can share with the people who matter to you on FB.

I know a lot of you are already excited to work on your FB Timeline. I sure am.
In fact, while waiting for this feature to be publicly available, I'll start scanning childhood photos. :)

Caught this on TV Patrol just a while ago.

Criminals are now dressing up and acting like students and targeting real students with gadgets inside malls.

modus operandi

The modus operandi goes like this:

1. A group of criminals dressed like students or presenting themselves as such approaches the target, a student whose bag appears to have a gadget - a laptop, netbook, smartphone or tablet - inside it.

2. The criminals tell the target that they need help from other students for a signature campaign.

3. Criminals convince the target to go with them to a nearby restaurant and give the target a fake signature campaign form.

4. Target signs the fake form and returns it to criminals.

5. Criminals tell the target that they need to transfer to another location to sign another fake form but all bags - for no logical reason whatsoever - must be left behind.

6. Target leaves bag with gadget inside it in the restaurant and goes with the criminals to the new location.

7. Accomplice gets bag of the target.

8. Target returns to the restaurant only to find that his or her bag is no longer there.

Please warn others by sharing this post on your Facebook Wall or by tweeting about it.

TP Thoughts:

Two shooting incidents then this. TP Friends, do you think people are still safe inside malls?

Anyway, here's my TP TIP: Don't be too trusting of strangers. And never leave your bag out of your sight.

Following Facebook's recent site revamp, my inbox got flooded with emails on how to get the old FB back -- at least the one that doesn't have the Ticker Box and the merged News Feed.

One TP Friend asked, "I want to get my old News Feed back! Is it even possible?"

Well, in the service of my TP Friends and at the risk of pissing Facebook off, I'll say, "Yes, it's possible. And here's how you do it."

1. Go to your FB Account Settings:

old facebook

2. Click on Language Edit button and choose Filipino in the drop-down menu:

3. Save Changes and Refresh the Page.

Obviously, the catch is you'd get Facebook in Filipino, which - come to think of it - could be a good thing for a lot of Pinoys, especially those who aren't even all that familiar with their own language.
