Ugly Birds Cake Angers Online Deals Customers?!

Posted: 07 Nov 2011 06:23 AM PST

Remember that discounted Angry Birds Cake in an online deals site that we featured here on TP last September?

Well, we have an update. And it isn't so sweet.

Turns out, some customers who had recently picked up their cake from the bakery aren't so happy with the way the cake looks like in the flesh.

Quoting a letter from an irate customer first published in FashionPulis (source), "[The discounted Angry Birds Cake was] so ugly and it looked so different from the photo that was advertised online." The customer followed up, "My 11-year-old brother, who is a big crybaby, was really upset when he saw his cake."

Another disappointed customer left a comment in FP's blog post, "I bought coupons for this deal, actually thousands of people did. The worst part is, the deal is continually advertised. [The bakery] is still selling deals. [The bakery owner] who is still getting a stream of orders for their ugly cakes, cupcakes and cakepops until now even though a lot of people are complaining about their customer service and end product. I found their Facebook page a week before my son's birthday and was really angry when I saw their cake samples. The cakes they advertised were deceptive, so I hurriedly looked for another supplier. [...]"

So how does this so-called "Ugly Birds Cake" actually look like?

It appears the real Angry Birds Cake remains to be a myth.

What do you think, TP Friends? Is it as ugly as some people describe it to be?

In the spirit of fair blogging (if ever there's such a thing), TP is open to publishing MetroDeal's official statement on this issue if and when they decide to release one.

Samsung Galaxy Y Philippines Sample Camera Photos - 2 MegaPixel Shots!

Posted: 06 Nov 2011 08:27 PM PST

Played with my Samsung Galaxy Y Smart Netphone Edition earlier and took a few photos using its 2 MegaPixel camera.

Samsung Galaxy Y has a 2 MegaPixel full focus shooter without flash. Here are 7 stills taken with automatic settings:

As expected of a cameraphone with full focus lens, Samsung Galaxy Y takes clear and crisp landscape shots but doesn't perform quite as well with macro or close-up photos. I think you need a distance of around 60 centimeters for the subject to be in focus.

Will add more photos soon.

Gwendolyn Ruais is Miss World 2011 First Runner-Up! Trends on Yahoo! Pinoy Pride!

Posted: 06 Nov 2011 06:07 PM PST

Totally reinforcing the inarguable fact that Filipinos are some of the most beautiful people in the world, Miss Philippines Gwendolyn Ruais today bagged first runner-up title in Miss World 2011 pageant held in London.

Gwendolyn pretty much swept all categories and portions of the competition but - as expected of a Filipina - it is in the Intelligence or Final Question round where she shone most:

Receiving a rousing applause as soon as the name of her country was mentioned, Gwendolyn told the judges, "To be Miss World is my dream job. And I say job because it is a lot of responsibilities. But there is nothing I love more than communicating with other people. As Miss World, you get to use your potential and your voice to help people from all around the world, and what is more wonderful than doing what you love by helping others." Largely due to this impassioned and witty answer, some pageant critics and experts are saying that Gwendolyn should have been won the crown. Anyway. TP congratulates Miss Venezuela for being Miss World 2011.

Following Gwendolyn's landmark victory (this is the closest the Philippines has been to bringing home the crown since Miss Evangeline Pascual's 1st runner up finish and controversial reign in 1973), Filipinos have catapulted her and Miss World 2011 to trending status on Yahoo Philippines:

Mabuhay ka, Gwendolyn! You make all Filipinos the world over proud!
