Smart iPhone 4S Arriving on December 16, 2011 - Confirmed via Twitter and Facebook!

Posted: 12 Dec 2011 06:18 AM PST

This is as fresh as fresh can get.

Totally slamming malicious rumors spreading online and in the press that Smart won't be able to deliver iPhone 4S as scheduled, Smart Communications released an official statement via Twitter and Facebook a while ago confirming that the company will offer the iPhone 4S to customers in the Philippines beginning December 16, 2011 -- as promised.

"Contrary to rumours that were spread in the press and online, we shall start selling iPhone 4S as scheduled, on the 16th," said Smart Public Affairs Head Ramon R. Isberto.

"We suggest that interested persons sign up in our website, which has already received numerous reservations, so that they can enjoy using the iPhone 4S in the country's best cellular network," he added.

iPhone 4S will be available for both postpaid and prepaid subscribers in Smart's retail stores across the country on that date. The phones can also be pre-ordered online at smart.com.ph/iphone4s. All three variants -- the 16GB, for the 32GB, and 64GB models -- will be offered.

I'm currently doing my best to get insider info on iPhone 4S pricing details from both Globe Telecom and Smart Communications. While we're all awaiting updates, you might want to learn more about Apple iPhone 4S via the link.

Samsung Sales Figures : How Many Smartphones Have Samsung Sold Worldwide in 2011? Shocking Numbers!

Posted: 11 Dec 2011 10:08 PM PST

Let's face it. Techy or not, we all have that gut feel that Samsung must be doing well in the market.

I mean, you walk around the mall and you see people flaunting their Samsung handsets. (Heck, even the mall holiday giveaway prizes are Samsung devices; Samsung Galaxy Tab or SGY, right?!) You open the TV and you get bombarded with Samsung handset ads. You drive along EDSA and you see all of those Samsung Galaxy Y billboards.

That's just how it is.

Well, I just got this press release from the Korean company that confirms everyone's speculation:

Today, Samsung announced that it has officially achieved annual mobile handset sales of 300 million units for the first time in the company's history.

"We are incredibly proud of this record-breaking sales milestone and have exceeded the annual target announced early this year, which is testament to the enduring appeal of Samsung phones with consumers around the world," said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business.

Samsung's 2011 sales results cap a hugely successful year for Samsung across its entire handset portfolio. The company's flagship GALAXY S range of products – Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2 – contributed significantly to the success, as the products have continued to gain popularity among consumers and propelled the GALAXY brand to one of the most recognized mobile brands in the world. The GALAXY S II, launched in 2011, set a new sales record for Samsung, generating 10 million sales quicker than any mobile device in the company's history.

In 2011, Samsung also pushed the boundaries of the mobile device category with product innovations such as the Samsung Galaxy Note, a smart mobile device featuring the world's first 5.3'' HD Super AMOLED display that retains all the portability of a smartphone while introducing a unique user-interface that combines touch-screen and pen-input technologies. GALAXY Note continues to excite consumers around the world since its introduction in Europe in October.

So what's there to say?! "Congratulations, Samsung!"
