Sony Xperia S Philippines Price Php 27,990, Official! Complete Specifications, Release Date and Key Features!

Posted: 25 Mar 2012 01:00 PM PDT

Looks like Sony's 2012 flagship smartphone will be arriving in the Philippines sooner than expected - with an SRP far lower than our Php 30,000 to Php 35,000 predicted price tag last January.

Last week, Sony Mobile Philippines posted this exciting status update on its official Facebook page confirming that the 4.3-inch Sony Xperia S will hit store shelves 'real soon' with a Php 27,990 official suggested retail price.

As a top-of-the-line release, Sony Xperia S comes with the best technical specifications that the company could have given a handset this year or at least the first half of it. Some of the highlights include a 1.5 GHz Dual Core processor running Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with planned Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, 1GB of RAM for convenient multitasking, 4.3-inch 720 x 1280 pixels resolution LED-backlit LCD display, 12 MegaPixel camera featuring Exmor R sensor technology, and a Full HD 1080p video recorder.

While its subdued design is exemplary and its specifications are indeed highly-competitive (save for the dual core chip, maybe), what makes Sony Xperia S truly special - I believe - are the patented Sony multimedia features and services that are bundled with the device. Of course, there's Sony Entertainment Network for movies and music, and the Sony PlayStation Store for games. As for capturing moments, the phone features a back-lit sensor similar to but more powerful than what's found on Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc; This enables Sony Xperia S' camera to shoot clear and crisp photos and videos even in not-so-well-lit environments.

So when can we expect to see this smartphone in stores? Sony Mobile Philippines didn't really include the exact release date of the handset in that status update. But I'm inclined to believe that it's only a matter of weeks (or days even) before Sony Xperia S becomes available via the company's official retailers across the country. (After all, some grey market sellers are already offering the device.)

That's it for now but kindly stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, you might want to check out the complete technical specifications of Sony Xperia S --

MyPhone New Television Commercials by Likhamahinasyon Productions Promote Pinoy Pride, Created by Communication Arts Students!

TechPinas Exclusive!

TP's no snob. If it's about tech and it's relevant to a number of Pinoys, it belongs here.

We already know MyPhone has boatloads of cash. I mean, the company recently got more than a dozen teen celebrity endorsers from both ABSCBN and GMA7, which partly caused some of its new handsets to sell like hotcakes in malls - giving the brand even more moolah. That's cool and all; But perhaps there's no bigger proof that the company is doing well than its multiple hundred-thousand-peso TV ad placements this month in between top-rating primetime shows of the two biggest networks. I know some of you have seen the TVCs but for those who haven't, we have all three here:

While I'm not particularly crazy about MyPhone's current handset line-up, I can appreciate that the local phone company does what it can to promote Pinoy Pride alongside its handsets -- and that's big for me. In fact, I think MyPhone has fully embraced 'proudly Pinoy' as part of its identity and in effect, it's become one of the company's charms.

Oh, and one interesting trivia about these TVCs: Did you know that they were created by a group of Pinoy college students? Likhamahinasyon Productions, composed of AB Communication Arts students specializing, produces short films, commercials, music videos, and animations mostly for fun and experience and of course, for art's sake.
