Samsung announces Galaxy Tab 2 and Galaxy Players for the US market

Posted: 13 Apr 2012 06:30 AM PDT

Samsung intends to expand their Galaxy family of devices, and this time around, it would be the Galaxy Tab range that will see an increase in the family member count. We will have two new models of the Galaxy Tab 2 arrive, where one of them will carry a 7″ display, while the other has a far more comfortable 10″ display. For those who just want a pure portable media player experience, there is a couple of Galaxy Players for you to play around with before deciding on a purchase.

I am guessing here that Apple fanboys will not bother with what Samsung has on offer here, since they would pretty much want to stick to their iPad as well as iPod touch or iPhone. Nevertheless, the show must go on, so let us check out just what Samsung wants to share with the world this time around after the jump.

The Galaxy Tab 2 Series, as mentioned earlier, will be available in both 10.1″ and 7.0″ screen sizes, and both of them will not be found wanting when it comes to performance, thanks to the dual-core processor inside that runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There will be an integrated IR blaster inside both tablets for universal remote capabilities, not to mention an easily accessible memory card slot so that it will be a snap for you to load your favorite multimedia content in a jiffy without having to open up the back side of the tablet’s case.

With the Smart Remote App and the aforementioned built-in IR Blaster, it will be able to transform the Tab 2 into a universal smart remote, letting viewers, even guests to your home, find their favorite shows in a snap. With more than 450,000 apps to choose from, easy access to your favorite movies and TV shows from Google Play or Media Hub, as well as Adobe Flash support, you know for sure you will not complain about the lack of entertainment in your life.

As for the Galaxy Players, they place the power of Android in the Hand without the need for Service Contracts. They will come in 4.2″ and 3.6″ resolution models, and will feature Wi-Fi connectivity. It can hook up to other devices via USB 2.0 or Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity as well, and you can also load your multimedia content via a microSD memory card.

Ematic eGlide Prism tablet does the Android dance

Posted: 13 Apr 2012 06:00 AM PDT

When it comes to the world of tablets, there is none out there which is as popular as the Apple iPad. It has sold millions and millions of devices ever since it was released to the masses, and not only that, it has also been so carefully marketed so much so that a line will form for a new iPad at Apple Stores around the world a few days before the new model is actually released, now how about that? In addition, we have also heard some random bits of news about a teenager in China who actually sold one of his kidneys to raise money to purchase an iPad 2, which is rather sad when you think about it.

Well, other manufacturers have failed to come close to what Apple has done with the iPad in terms of sales figures as well as popularity, not to mention ease of use, although I must say that Samsung has bridged the gap quite a bit with their Galaxy Tab range over the past couple of years. It is basically iOS vs Android on the tablet front, until Microsoft does something about their Windows 8, of course, and the latest Android-powered tablet to be introduced would be the Ematic eGlide Prism.

According to Roy Rayn, General Manager of Ematic, "The eGlide Prism is packed with the latest technology designed for an improved user experience. It's also slim in size which makes it the perfect tablet for people who are always on the move."

The eGlide Prism will be powered by the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, where it will deliver improved multi-tasking capability, faster web browsing and a refined interface. The eGlide Prism itself has been optimized for rich media entertainment, never mind that the 7″ touchscreen display might seem a wee bit too small to many of us. There is also an integrated 3-axis gyroscope that will work in tandem with an accelerometer, allowing the eGlide Prism to experience advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, and full 3D altitude and rotation.

It will also be able to support 2160p 3D HD videos, and each $216 purchase will come with Wi-Fi connectivity, 8GB of internal flash memory, 5GB of cloud storage, a microSD memory card slot, a front facing camera, and an integrated speaker. Accessories include a pair of 3D glasses, a protective sleeve, earphones, wall charger, and a USB cable.

Motorized Stunt Kite

Posted: 13 Apr 2012 05:30 AM PDT

Flying a kite is no longer done the traditional way in this day and age. Here we are with the $199.95 Motorized Stunt Kite that is touted to be the first stunt kite which relies on a remote-controlled gimbaled propeller that will allow it to execute a range of aerial maneuvers. Thanks to its gimbal-mounted engine and propeller, it is capable of delivering nimble, multi-directional vector movement in tandem with its delta-wing shape which allows it to perform quick climbs, loops, and reliable tracking.

Since it will not remain tethered to a line like any other traditional kite, you will be able to have full control over it within a 500′ radius, thanks to a radio transmitter which delivers left/right and up/down propeller attitude trim so that you are able to have optimal control during stunts. I guess no matter how powerful the engine and design, it will still not be able to stand up to hurricane level winds, but then again, who in their right mind would want to fly a kite then, even if it is a Motorized Stunt Kite?

Everyone loves LEGO, I haven’t seen someone who hates these creative blocks that allows you to explore your constructive side. Well, ThinkGeek has something different for everyone this time around, thanks to the $9.99 Brick Brites that will actually light up like a disco ball, except for the fact that these will not come in a round shape, but rather, a rectangular block that we have all come to know and love – especially those that hail from Denmark.

The Brick Brites basically come with integrated, shiny LEDs which will be compatible with the current set of construction bricks that you are already using. All you need to do now to put the finishing touch to your new sculpture would be to pick a favorite color, build your Brick Brite into your creation, and then tap it – so that the LED light will begin to flash. Each Brick Brite is said to last for up to 100 hours of flashing.
