Q2 Wi-Fi Radio, Rocking your World

Posted: 04 May 2012 08:49 AM PDT

There are just so many gadgets out there, it amazes me. There is a gizmo for everything. Recently I have come to the conclusion that more is not always better. When I started my gadget collection the more bells and whistles a gadget had, the better. That also meant it was more complicated. These days, sometimes I just want simple.

Well, it doesn’t get any simpler than this, meet the G2 Wi-Fi Radio. Without any buttons, displays or knobs of any kind, this cute and colorful cube enables you to preset up to 4 stations and “tune” to them, by turning the cube to any of its 4 sides, volume is controlled similarly by tilting the face of the cube up towards the rear in order to increase, and simply tipping it forward in order to decrease the sound. When you are done listening to your Q2 simply turn it on its face and after no movement is detected, it will turn itself off.

Armour’s Q2 radio is rechargeable so there are no cords or wires to hold you back, and it will play for right around 8 hours on a single charge. The Q2 comes in a large variety of prints and colors like lime, white, blue, black and pink and can receive radio stations and podcast from all over the world. The Q2 comes with a headphone jack and a charging adapter. The most difficult part of using the Q2 will be choosing just 4 stations.

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that in order to set your stations or podcasts you will need to plug your Q2 into a computer via USB port and use the downloadable software to preset your stations, or to change them in the future. (but thats easy enough isnt it?) The Q2 is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS and is available for under 120 bucks at amazon.com

Samsung Galaxy S3 – Is this your New Phone?

Posted: 04 May 2012 07:25 AM PDT

Samsung is unveiling it’s newest entry into the Smartphone arena with the brand new Galaxy S3 and if its time for you to consider a new phone, this might be it, Why dont you let us know what you think?

The Samsung Galaxy G3 has all the expected modifications on a new generation phone, like a 22 percent bigger screen in a not much bigger frame and many enhanced controls, but what you might not know about is the cool stuff, like an impressive “Smart Stay” feature which actually recognizes how the phone is being used by having a forward camera check the movement of your eyes or the wildly impressive impressive processor that will let you watch videos and write messages at the same time (you know, if unlike me you can do 2 things like that at once)

The S Voice interface allows you to use verbal commands to control music features, texting, alarm clock (including snooze) and calendar functions (move over Siri) or just tell your Galaxy S3 you want to take a picture and a neat-o zero lag shutter speed camera will let you capture shots like the ones you missed on your old phone. The nifty S beam feature allows you to share stuff simply by standing next to someone, or you can even mirror your Galaxy on a nearby television screen.

So needless to say, there are lots of things to think about, and some are already singing the S3′s praises from the rooftops but there are some reviewers that think the phone loses somethng in the “feel” of it…that its perhaps a little too plastic-y or light compared to… well you know who.

What do you think? is this the must have phone of 2012? If you live here in the U.S. youre probably not going to get your hands on one till summer. We’ll certainly keep you posted.

AOC 22″ USB powered display is now available

Posted: 04 May 2012 06:00 AM PDT

Take a break from your work and check out just what your monitor holds behind. Apart from the standard cable that plugs into your computer’s chassis, there is also a power cable, right? Not so with AOC’s most recent 22″ USB powered display. As you can tell by the name itself, this new monitor, also going by the moniker e2251Fwu if you are into model numbers and all, is an extremely slim and attractive looking LED monitor which will send/receive power as well as signal through a USB connection, delivering simple plug-and-play connectivity while introducing the added productivity benefits of dual- and multi-monitor computing.

Have you tried working with more than one monitor? It definitely ups the productivity ante, I can tell you that for sure. No, it is not about having more viewing real estate so that you can have a movie playing in the background, but rather, for you to play around with more visual information, which works great when you need to open additional windows, and do not have any more space on the current monitor.

The AOC e2251Fwu is said to be equally suitable for business, gaming and entertainment use, thanks to its large high definition screen and excellent image quality. Using DisplayLink's USB 2.0 graphics and connectivity technology within, the AOC e2251Fwu is capable of delivering real-time video compression/decompression, and despite that, it measures a mere 10.6mm in terms of thickness, and is also considered as an energy saving "green" monitor which runs solely off power that is delivered over a USB 2.0 cable.

You will be able to enjoy a resolution count of 1,920 x 1,080 in addition to a 5ms response time, and we are glad to say that the AOC e2251Fwu is supported on all leading operating systems. Not only that, this monitor will also be equipped with a convenient detachable stand so that it can be used with or without the base, where the latter would make it function pretty much in form like that of a picture frame.

If you are interested in picking up the AOC e2251Fwu, then it will retail for a highly affordable $149. Any takers?

LEGO Storage Bricks for easier organization

Posted: 04 May 2012 05:30 AM PDT

When it comes to organizing your home or just about anywhere else, having enough storage space is always something to look forward to – so why not go ahead with the LEGO Storage Bricks that will retail anywhere from $19.99 to $45.99, depending on the size that you want and need? After all, a boring old cardboard box is not going to turn any heads, and if you decided to fill your stuff up in IKEA boxes, that might add some dash to your living room or store room, but if you were to use the LEGO Storage Bricks, the story changes altogether.

The bricks will come in sizes 2, 4, and 8, and will feature the three standard LEGO colors of yellow, red, and blue. Whenever you open them up, you can create LEGO-ception – by putting in a smaller LEGO Storage Brick, followed by individual LEGO bricks and parts of all sorts within, too. But most folks might not take that route, and prefer to toss in their D&D miniatures, puzzle pieces, and random toys and stuff. These are stackable storage bricks which resemble giant LEGOs, and are easy to separate from one another.

Recharge Battery Mug

Posted: 04 May 2012 05:00 AM PDT

I know, it is Friday, and now would be a great time to wind down after a particularly long and hard week at work. For those of you who are workaholics and go into a bout of depression because the weekend is upon you, then you might want to consider picking up the £9.99 Recharge Battery Mug which will definitely help you be the talk of the cubicle. After all, so many items that we carry around these days come with a battery inside, and you will need to recharge them at the end of the day or whenever they run out of juice. As a human, you too, will have moments when you are running low on juice, so why not make a visual feast of it with the Recharge Battery Mug?

It will basically interact with hot water, thanks to the thermographic ink which is used to print the battery on the side of the mug. From an empty battery, filling it up with hot water will see the battery being juiced up to the maximum level within seconds. Of course, as you drink your favorite brew, the green level will slowly drop, giving you a visual indicator of whether it is time for a refill or not.

Samsung Galaxy S3 announced

Posted: 04 May 2012 04:30 AM PDT

At long last, all the excitement which was built up over the weeks has come to a pass, and we were not disappointed with the Samsung Galaxy S3 event that happened in London, England, just less than a dozen hours ago. As its name suggests, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will continue from where the Galaxy S2 left off, where it is claimed by Samsung to be “designed for humans and inspired by nature”, where the Galaxy S3 will be able to utilize its half dozen sensors of different functionalities in order to recognize your voice, understand your intention, and even allows you to share a tender moment right there and then without requiring you to be a rocket scientist. Want to know more about the Galaxy S3? Read all about it in the extended post.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a sleek and innovative handset which will feature enhanced intelligence that makes everyday life a whole lot more easy and convenient, where it will feature a drool-worthy 4.8″ HD Super AMOLED display, accompanied by an 8-megapixel camera which we will talk about more later as well as a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera that will no longer shoot crappy VGA images as with other devices.

This front facing camera has a higher resolution than usual because it has face recognition related options to get the job done at various moments, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will tie everything together for a uniquely personalized mobile experience that refuses to be compromised.

A little peek into how smart the Galaxy S3 is – it will use the Smart Stay feature to recognize just how you are using the handset, whether you are reading an e-book or browsing the web, the front camera will identify your eyes as well as make an intelligent guess as to what task you are performing right now in order to maintain the right brightness setting for the screen.

The S Voice is an advanced natural language user interface that can listen and respond to your word, while offering powerful functions in regards to device control and commands. Say “snooze” instead of fumbling for a button in the mornings now, although your groans of protest for more sleep will not cause anything to happen.

The 8-megapixel camera at the back has one major strength – a zero-lag shutter speed which allows you to capture moving objects there and then, while a 'Burst shot' function will instantly capture twenty continuous shots, with the 'Best photo' feature picking the best of eight photographs for you.

No idea on pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S3 at press time, but expect it to arrive in Europe this May 29th, with the rest of the world to follow in June. It will come in 4G and 3G versions, depending on which part of the world you reside in.
